Two Mom's 20 lbs.

Well, this week didn't go so well. I started out on the right foot, but ended up doing poorly. I can tell you some things that shouldn't be done. Don't give into temptation. It does one absolutely no good. Then there is the guilt factor afterwards to deal with. Make sure you have plenty of healthy foods around to eat. When you don't keep your home stocked properly, then it is easy to fall off the band wagon.

Having company does not give you permission to stuff yourself. Try to stick with your normal eating habits. My parents came to visit, so I was determined to make them a healthy meal, as they are suppose to be very careful with what they eat. Well, after not eating much for a few days before hand, I pigged out. Needless to say, my body was hating me, and I was not liking myself too well. It's no fun, it feels miserable, and it does absolutely no good.

But with that said, do not beat yourself up and get all depressed over it. Instead, get back on track and keep on going. Move forward! So we let ourselves take a step back once in awhile. As long as we don't keep letting it happen, we are okay. The important thing is to correct that back slide and put your next foot forward and then the next one and so on.

So water in take has still been good. Only had a couple of diet soda's, which is very good for me after drinking a minimum of two every day. Food was not so good, but am back on track!!! Exercise, been getting plenty of that, believe me.

Plan to get back to doing what my original plan of attack was and hopefully lose some more. This week, stayed the same, maybe even gained a little. :( But that's okay. It's not the end of the world. Have to keep a positive attitude in order to succeed.

Hope all the rest of you are having great success!

2 Mom's 20 Pounds

Well, here we are again. Another week! I hope you all have had a successful week. I know I have. Not as successful as I'd like it to be, but it's been a good one. :) Without further ado...

Water: This has not been a problem as I fasted soda's all week! All I've been drinking is my usual coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day. WOW!!! What a difference that makes. I'm loving it.

Exercise: Okay, this is where I have been lacking. I haven't stuck with the plan, as I had all week off last week and not most of this week. So I've slacked. But, when I go anywhere, I make sure I have to walk a little ways from the parking lot. Well, actually started that before doing this, but am much better about it. I do chase the cat up and down the stairs and around the house (we play tag and hide n' seek) just to make sure I get some cardio activity going. Then of course there is the cleaning, which on some days consits of a lot of extra walking!!!

Challenges: Well obviously have so much luxury time has made it harder to stick to the plan for one. I am however improving on the late night snacking. I have improved the eating habits immensely. No more junk food except one day. No more fast food except this morning, because I ended up with the shakes while at an appt. and had another meeting for 2 hours after that, so had to eat something. It was still breakfast time and only had a couple minutes on the run. Wasn't too bad though. ;) Need to remember to take healthy snacks with me for those moments. Overcoming bad habits is the biggest challenge right now, and of course exercising, which will always be a challenge.

Success: I was able to get into a skirt I haven't worn for a couple of years and almost a blouse!!! Talk about excited. If that isn't a get you pumped move to motivation, nothing is. I felt like a woman again. Hee hee

Weigh In: Well as you all know, I don't weigh myself, but since I have a pair of pants that fall off now and am into a skirt I haven't been able to wear and almost a blouse, that says it all.

My motto: Believe in God. I know He wants me to keep His temple healthy and looking good, so now that I have the right frame of mind, it is going to happen! Believe, believe, believe. Walk in Faith!!!

My Weight Loss Plan

Okay, I may be crazy for doing this, but I'm going to give it a shot. I haven't linked up yet and committed, as I wasn't successful with their link. :( But, will not give up.
First off Food:
I've really changed my eating habits. I've cut out soda's all together, even though I was only drinking diet soda's. I'm avoiding sweet snacks. Amazingly that has not been all that hard. I had joined Weight Watchers years ago and remember some of what I had learned and have initiated that along with some of what I had learned in my nutrition class.
I plan to dig out all the information from that class and instill what I had learned. I will then post a link to a place that is great to keep track of everything! It is an awesome tool. It helps you to realize what all you need to change. It even tracks "all" of your daily activities to show a more accurate calorie/fat burn! How awesome is that. Why did I not stick with it, because I was allowing myself to be too unorganized, stressed, and felt I didn't have the time. In other words, I wasn't committed enough. Pretty sad I know.
Now, I have to admit, I don't just have a little bit of weight to lose. I have a lot. I've been battling weight since age 23 after our second child was born. It's been a yo-yo affect for me. I've been down to where I should be many times. Health issues makes it harder now, as I'm not allowed to do any type of exercising except in the pool and on a bike. The bike I have, but...it messes my back up. I'm not giving up though. The pool, our budget is too tight right now. We have a lot of people we are trying to help and it's quickly depleting our funds. But all is good. I will find a way. Running after kids all day is helpful. :) I need to lose a minimum of 100 lbs. but would like to lose 110.
Water
This was always a problem with me, as I used to drink a lot of diet soda's. Now I've Incorporated sugar free flavorings for water. I drink at least 3-32 oz. bottles of it a day now. What a difference that alone has made.
Exercise
Well guess I covered that above. But...I do plan to move around more. I am too idle a lot of times due to loving blogging, and crafts. So...I plan to make it a habit to get up and do some activity for a specified amount of time no matter what it takes. Divide the day up between sitting and moving. I've been invited to join a group of women from the church at Gold's gym with one of their personal trainers. The only thing is, most of what they do, I can't do. I was going to join, but keep hearing it is a bad mistake. I don't need to be laid up again, or go through another surgery right now. If I change my mind, I'll let you know.
Challenges
Health issues and overcome late night snacking. I don't know what it is, but around 8:30 to 9 at night, I want something to eat. A light snack is okay, but I usually eat almost a meal like. Such as a soft shell taco or two. This is frustrating. The health issues consist of FMS (fibromyalgia), and RA (rheumatoid arthritis). I've already had surgery on one knee from the arthritis. This is when I was told no more walking, which I love to do the most. Both cause a lot of joint discomfort, plus I've dealt with lower back pain since the age of 9. I also have symptoms that a hypoglycemic person deals with. No one can figure out what is going on with me. I get to the point of shaking, sweating, cranky, then feel like I can't move and am going to pass out. When I get to the last two symptoms, I've let it go to far. Then I end up binge eating to make it go away. I think I've discovered the culprit though, and that is eating cereal for breakfast. Since cutting this out, I've been doing much better!!!
Success
I do not weigh myself anymore, as that gets me too depressed if I don't lose any. Plus, my nutrition instructor told us to throw away our scales. I've read this in other articles as well. The better weigh is to either measure yourself once a week, or just go by how your clothes fit. Well, so far I haven't brought myself to measure myself, but...I have a pair of pants that are too big to wear now. They won't stay up!!!! That in itself is so exciting.
My Plan for Next Week
I plan to stay on the right track with eating smaller portions of healthier foods. It's hard as it does cost a lot more. Oh, and I am staying away from fast food. That is my fast for this week for the Catalyst Service this year. For me this is a big step. I use it for convenience. No more. Today while out and about, I wanted so bad to stop and get a diet soda or a shake of all things. But I managed to say no! So that's my story & I'm sticking to it.
Weigh In
The fact that I've shed a pants size! I'm so excited. Others have been telling me I look like I've lost weight. I can't see it, but hopefully it's true.
Kate & Joy, thank you for coming up with this program. It's an excellent idea.
