Health Update

Had an appointment with the Orthopedic surgeon today. He feels that the numbness in my feet is from nerve deteriation. Usually people with this problem have diabetes. He is glad I will be seeing a neurologist next Wed. Will have to schedule an appointment to have a diabetes test ran again.
Will be having an MRI ran on my right knee as am having problems with it now. My left knee, which is the one that had been operated on before is acting up as well. Will be having cartalige injections in both knees once he sees if I need surgery on the right knee or not. This is all from Rhuematoid arthritis tearing up the miniscus in there.
Still holding onto faith. I know only God can take all this away. It's scary in a sense to think about the possibility of losing my feet. This has been known to happen if I have diabetes and the nerves are dead. The numbness is getting worse. Usually when this happens, most have their lower limbs to thier knees amputated. :{
At least now I have an idea of why all the pain and some numbness off and on through out my body. I have no reflexes in my knees and very little in the right ankle. The left ankle has none. I keep reminding myself that there are others in much worse condition. I have grandchildren to enjoy and do things with. Am not going to let this get the best of me.
Little sis was down Monday and spent the night and talked about how she has learned to live with the pain the best she can and keep going, as often times, we don't have a choice. I so agree. There are times when we can't keep going and have to rest.
So I send out a prayer for all those hurting, in the same conditions, worse, or perhaps not as bad.

Father God, You are so precious to us. You are the Almighty. Without you life is not good. We love you Father. We long for the day when we come home to You. Thank you Father for all the goodness You place in our lives. Thank You for the lessons You continue to teach us. Thank You for protecting us from evil. Father, You are the awesome Alpha and the Omega.
Father God, there are many out there going through their trials and tribulations through some type of pain in various stages. Those facing cancer treatments. Those whose bodies are riddled with arthritis, lupus, MD, MS etc. Those who are losing or have lost limbs. Those who are war torn. Of course You know all who are suffering, all who need Your healing hands. Daddy, I pray you lay Your healing hands upon each one and let them know Your mightiness. Let them feel Your loving presence. For those who have not come to You yet, let them know and feel that You are there and are the only One that can heal them. Lead them to you.
Father, we all need you in order to continue to do as You wish for us to do. We want to be good, obedient servants of You. We know You send us trials and tribulations for a reason, often times for testemonials to help others going through the same things. Thank You for that gift! How I love you so Father. Your presence is strong and so wanted. Thank you Father God. Thank You seems so small of words for all the greatness You provide. A thousands praises go up to You! In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

While going through all this lately, I've come across some good health information. Therefore will be sharing much of it with you all or giving you the information of where to obtain it all. I pray this finds you all healthy and doing well. May the presence of the Lord fill your hearts and souls. Blessings prayed for each and everyone of you. God Bless.

By the way, I apologize for not having been on much and visiting at all. I don't know what is going on, but I've been so tired and have a very hard time staying away. :{ Hoping this all passes real soon.

Diet Tips and Site

For all of you out there struggling with weight loss, finding ways to eat the stuff you love and stay healthy; Tami of Diary of a Mad Woman led me to the following site: DWLZ.com Thank you Tami! This site is awesome! Dotti's Weight Loss Zone has so much information available. I was thrilled with the short time I was there with what I had found already. I can't wait for my next day off to research further.

Also, Tami had mentioned Trader Joes has semi-sweet dark chocolate that is cut to the daily intake for those chocolate lovers that want to lose but still have their "cake and eat it too" like me. ;) Dark chocolate has been proven to be beneficial in small quantities, to include a daily piece. So there you have it! Once again, thank you Tami.

Kim from Homesteaders Heart had made a great point as well. To cut out everything you like is asking for trouble. Believe me, I know, as I've done it before and it is too easy to fall off the band wagon that way. Treating yourself once a week will not hurt you, and remember though, do it in a small quantity. It doesn't mean we can engourge ourselves. Which I have done in the past. It's not worth it. It's not healthy. Thank you Kim for the great reminder.

Plus there are a lot of great snacks that taste sweet and "fattening" but aren't. The important thing is to read the labels and know how to read them. There are great sites out there that will teach you if you aren't sure.

After all, we are suppose to be taking care of His temples. I've done poorly, but am thankful He is so loving and forgiving when we are sincere. Which reminds me. I'm working on a post that just has worked wonders for me and hope that you will like it as well.

I had written in the comments section but decided to put it here as well. I will be visiting and posting again soon on a regular basis. I had some issues to work on and get myself on track so as to cut out a lot of the stress. Very important when you are facing possible heart problems.

May the Lord continue to bless you all and fill your hearts with joy and love. You are all the best!!!

A Healthy Body

I felt very compelled to share this one with you. This is one I am committing myself to this year. It's funny, as my hubby & I were discussing this very subject earlier this evening, then low and behold I open my e-mail and clicked on this news letter from "In Touch Ministries by Dr. Charles Stanley." Sam from "The Just Shall Live By Faith" talked of this very subject as well.

Wisdom for Good Health
READ 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

"Because God cares so much for your body, let’s review some simple ways to
look after yourself physically. First, pay close attention to what you eat. Your
body uses whatever food you eat— whether good or bad—as fuel. You alone must
decide what kind you’ll consume. When you fill your body with the wrong things,
you are limiting its efficiency, energy, and overall potential.
Second,
exercise is vital to a healthy body. You might say, “I just can’t do that.” But
yes, you can. It’s a matter of discipline. You may not enjoy exercise, but your
body needs it. If all you can do is walk, then walk!

Third, wisdom about health requires examining your attitude. How’s your
outlook regarding yourself, your life, and other people? A positive attitude
affects the body by freeing it of stress.
Finally, spending time in prayer
and Bible study affects physical well-being. God created you to be in
relationship with Him. Actively engage in this relationship and realign your
mind and spirit toward Him. It will have beneficial effects on the body He
created for you.

Many people attempt to separate spiritual life from the physical. This
is not what God intended. If you truly believe your body is the temple of the
Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), then you must realize that failing to
stay healthy is both a physical and a spiritual problem. What is the Lord saying
to you about the way you care for your body?"

1 Corithians 9:24-27 (NKJV) reads:

24Do you not know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one recieves the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 25 Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a persihable crown, but we an imperishable on. 26Therefore I do not run like one who runs aimlessly, or box like one who beats the air. 27Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV) reads:

19Do you not know your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you hve from God? You are not your own, 20for you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body.

Driving

Today while driving, a piece for posting came to mind. Of course I think about this issue everytime I'm on the road, but it hit me to write about it today.

Have you heard the song, "In a Hurry" I think that's the title any how, by Alabama? Well some of the words are as follows:

"I'm in a hurry to get things done;
Oh I rush and rush until lifes no fun.
All I really gotta do is live and die;
I'm in a hurry and don't know why."

I think of this very thing when I see people rushing, darting in and out of traffic in a hurry. Or when people tailgate, often times even when they have time and room to go around you while on the freeway (very frustrating). I've been fighting my need to yell and distort my face when these people do this--especially when the children are in the car--wondering why they take chances on near accidents. I now try to pray that the Lord guides them and wakes them up to the dangers.

I often think about what I would do if someone caused an accident while I have the kids in the car. Then I remind myself that I have to set an example. I have to admit, it kind of scares me to think of my reaction should one of my grand children be injured due to neglence. I pray the Lord will give the sanity to stay as calm as possible and let Him deal with their ignorance. Being put in jail would not do the kids one bit of good--and no, I'm not a violent person--a protective mother hen, yes. :) LOL

I've had so many near misses lately. People cutting over trying to get one or two more vehicles ahead. Just yesterday where we had plenty of notice to merge to the left due to a lane being blocked for construction, a vehicle came flying up and got over just in time. Yes, I reacted and laid on the horn. He looked at me enough to say, What? Then I prayed. That's a first. I drive my son, daughter, & husband up a wall. Sometimes the grand kids will say, "Omah, you need to take a deep breath!" Awe, the innocence of babes. Gotta love it. Then I'll calm down.

What am I driving at? Those of us being confronted by people not taking the time to think about their actions and driving neglently, we need to be praying for enlightenment for them and safer roads to drive on,and do away with our road rage. Those that are driving neglegently, slow down! Give yourself time to get to where you need to be rather than rushing, taking the chance with others lives and yours. Have you ever thought about what it would do to you mentally should you take a childs life or severely injure them, what it might do to them mentally? Let's all practice more patience. Oh, but don't forget, do not pray for patience. :) Believe me, I learnt that lesson the hard way. LOL!

Besides, rushing and impatience is only going to give you heartburn, or ulcers, or trips to the doctor, or worse to the ER for a heart attack, even worse, six feet underground. The more you get upset--and yes, I know I need to think about this with getting angry with crazy drivers--the more damage you are doing to your heart. Is is worth it? No way! Enjoy life, make the best of it, slow down, enjoy the views, save a life!
