Perfect Timing

Oh, our daddy is soooo good! I love how He works in us. I've been struggling with what to post tonight. I talked with my little sister and recieved some downer news on a few family members to include my parents. I told my sister to keep her chin up and remember He never gives us more than we can handle. I needed to remind myself that. There are times when it just all seems so overwhelming. But that's the time to go to Him.

J is struggling with writing on his blog as well. He's just starting one. What was cool was right after discussing our mental block, I came across a great message! I told J God is good, His timing is perfect, He is there when we need Him. Ask and we shall recieve! I had a scripture I was going to use, but then felt it just wasn't right. And lo and behold, just needed to be patient.

So here is what I found, as I felt it just tied in with everything. It just felt right. ;)

This comes from Crosswalk's Live It! "Pray without ceasing." (Thessalonians 5:17) Do you think He's trying to tell us something? This is two days in a row. First our Pastor yesterday, and now the 3rd or 4th message I received is the same thing. The one that touched me. The message starts out with this: (I'm sending this one to my little sis, as she really needs this message):

"My husband Bill and I believe in keeping track of prayer requests. Sometimes we might wonder if God is listening, and writing down our prayers helps remind us that God does listen. Let me share one, simple prayer request I made for one of my sons, Brock, when he was a baby. The prayer went like this:

'God, give Brock the courage to stand alone for You. Give him the integrity and wisdom to choose well in his relationships; lead him to the godly woman he will marry someday."

I'll leave the rest of the message for you to go read. It's very good. Really makes you think. It was just what I needed tonight, and what my lil' sis definintely needs. WOW!

Holding on to Hurts/Grudges

"If you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come offer your sacrifice to God." Matthew 5:23-24 (NLT)

"Devotion:Yesterday I swept the mahogany dark wood floors in my house. I worked with so much energy it might have looked like I was a clean freak or, at the very least, industrious. I am neither of those things. In fact, I really didn't even notice the dust bunnies flying through the air. I was hurt, trying to sweep away harsh words spoken the day before by a friend."

Have any of you done this. I have. I felt like a fool later. My hubby had learned quickly that if I was upset, our house would get cleaned faster and extra good. :( I've always been sensitive, so cruel words would effect me instantly. Sometimes it was just gossip that I'd over hear.

For instance, while volunteering at the church, a woman was sitting there in the volunteer central room talking of an incident that had happened with my grand daughter and I to another woman. I don't know why, but it really upset me. So instead of confronting her and clearing the situation up, I stormed around, bawled, and embarrassed myself which upset me even more.

Lesson: It doesn't pay to let things fester and boil. It is better to confront the situation.

This piece came from Crosswalks Encouragement for today. It's a great reminder packed full of sensible information on how to care for hurts of the past and present.

Rest

Matthew 11:28[Jesus said,] "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

This came from Crosswalk's Heartlight. You can click on the link on the side bar to go there and read the whole message.

Hmmm, this is a good one to ponder. We must allow ourselves rest in order to do the Lords work. After all, did He not say, "on the seventh day rest?" If we are tired, we tend to become cantankerous which can give off some very bad vibes. This is counter acting what we are suppose to be doing.

If we are tired out, we are opening ourselves up to allowing the enemy to enter much easier.

God's timing is perfect as always. I for one needed this verse, as for some reason I've been extremely tired. Although this could be do to being woken at 3 am. ;) I'm too stubborn to go back to bed and instead fall asleep in my chair which does not allow me to sleep continuously. Therefore, I'm tired, I tend to be shorter on patience, become cranky, and do not share the light of the Lord in this manner, instead, allowing the enemy to break in and take over what should be a beautiful time with family and grand kids. They then become irritable which only enhances the problem.

Lesson learned. Get plenty of rest. Your body is telling you to rest, hmmm, actually, God is saying, hey, slow down, rest and take care of your body so you can carry on by My will. Part of my problem is thinking I have to do it all to relieve pressure from others. Feeling like I'm failing if I don't try to help and much as possible where ever I can, and then becoming stressed, tired...you name it, and it just doesn't work that way.

For the first time in years, I sat down, allowed my son to clean up the kitchen and realized how nice it was to allow someone to help. He actually thanked me for allowing him to help. Eye opener? Oh yeah, big time. Oh I love how He works in our lives. Thank you Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit! You're Awesome!!!!

It's a God Thing

Here I am, it's 3:06 am, was awoken at 1:37 am. I was told to go read John 1:37. So I did. In the NKJV it read: "The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus." So then I asked myself what He was trying to tell me. Am I not following? I then proceeded to my e-mail, as it was placed on my heart to write to my small group leader and was given the words to write.

As I finished the message, the Lord told me to start catching up on my devotionals in my box. The first one I opened was: Crosswalks Power Point with Dr. Jack Graham. His message was about following Jesus. It's a God thing. The following is an incerpt from there. You can read the entire message by clicking on his name above.

"But too often, we put our complete confidence in men and what other people
tell us when there is no substitute for the truth of hope in Jesus Christ!
Have you lost sight of the fact that our greatest and only everlasting hope is from
God? I want to remind you that Jesus is sufficient for your needs and mine. He
provides a hiding place in the storms of life.
He is a Father to the fatherless. He is the Great Physician to those who are
wounded and sick. He is the Beginning and the End to those who face
uncertainty. He is the Resurrection and the Life. And He is your Eternal and
Living Hope! "

His message was from 1 John 3:2

We must not forget who we are to follow. Remember, there is only one God. When following someone else, or somethig else, we become lost.
God Bless!

Daily Devotional: Don't Worry

Are you a worrier? Is there something(s) in your life that is troubling you? Often times in our lives we find things that trouble us and we carry it with us. I know I have a bad habit of that; especially when it comes to children. With the grand kids, I find myself constantly worrying over some things that are going on in their lives and the treatment they recieve. But then I constantly remind myself of a recent pod cast I had heard from Dr. Charles Stanley saying, "Don't worry, don't worry, don't worry." I can't count the times anymore when I am constantly reminded of that very thing.

Partly hearing this repeated is due to listening and writing what I hear so that I can go back and referr to different areas of the message. There are times when the cast would skip ahead and I'd have to go back and would hear the "don't worry" part over and over. At first I was irritated, then realized that God was probably trying to tell me something. That particular pod cast was the worst one I've had problems with. Now I know why! :)

Anyway, on today's Crosswalk.com; Greg Lauries Daily Devotions has a great pieced called, "God's Answer to Worry." Definitely worth the read. Have a great day!

How Will You Vote

"When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan." (Proverbs 29:2)
At this link in Live it! an article on "How Will You Vote" by Kay Arthur is well written. I highly suggest reading it. It explains the verse above along with:
Proverbs 28:2 "By the transgression of a land many are its princes, but by a man of understanding and knowledge, so it endures."
There are other verses as well. These two set the stage for the article. Kay Arthur is a wise Pastor of Precept Ministries. She has done plenty of travels and research.
