Gathering at the Well

Today's subject at Gathering at the Well has to do with spiritual closets. The question we are dealing with is: "Do you have a favorite "spiritual place" in your home? Is it a room? a closet? maybe a chair?"

You know, I never knew what a spiritual closet was until about a year ago. I don't know if anyone else had experienced this before, but when I thought of spiritual closet, I thought they literally meant a closet. I thought, hmmmm, what closet am I going to be able to sit and pray in for about an hour. I just could not for see that happening. So I thought, great, now what do I do. Are we suppose to squeeze into a closet and pray in discomfort, or where you will be found and pestered?
You see, I grew up a Catholic. When I was there I never heard about prayer closets, receiving the Holy Spirit, non of what I know now. I'm not condemning the Catholic denomination by any means. I loved it, and I still have a desire to visit a couple of the Catholic buildings some day. I will never let go of my heritage, as my grandmother, God rest here soul, brought me to the Catholic church, and I grew there. Because of her planting those foundations in my life, I am now back with our Precious Lord!
So now I know what a prayer closet is. It's a place where you find it most comforting, quiet, and place to talk to privately and wait upon Him. I have that very special place. A place where I feel closer to Him and am able to hear Him. It's the place where I first came back to Him and where I first experienced His presence. As a child, I never felt His presence until then. Now I do often and it's the most beautiful experience. Oh Lord how I love you.
My special place is in our bonus room. This is where hubby came to the Lord and Jay and I returned to Him. This is where we studied "The Purpose Driven Life" and came to know who Christ really is. This is the place I sat one night in the dark praying and praying and felt his hands on my shoulders for the first time and I rested my head against Him. I have never felt so at peace. I wept for joy that I finally was in the presence of the Lord Almighty. Wow!!! I'll never forget it. This is where that same night while praying, He knelt before me and held my hands in His might hands. How gracious is our Lord!!!
So during times of trials and tribulations this is where I go. During times of hurt, pain, and frustration this is where I go. Otherwise, my prayers are said in the early mornings in my computer chair sitting in our computer room. I love just sitting praying, talking to Him and at times being answered. It's a great place as well, but the ultimate place where I can really feel His presence is upstairs. I feel closer to Him. I feel He is there waiting for me to come to Him. I plan on making it a daily routine to just pray up there every morning.
Praise God for all His glory, graciousness, and most importantly His love!!! To be like Him is the ultimate goal. To love people like He loves us. To be so forgiving like He is with us. Thank You Father God, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit for all you do in my life. I love you so. I'll praise you in the morning, the afternoon, the evening, in the springtime and the winter, summer and fall, all the days of my life, as You are the Alpha and Omega, the Father of all!
May God pour out His blessings upon each of you. Make a ripple and watch it grow and grow and grow. And remember to always P.U.S.H.! God Bless you all!

Amen! Before I go to a favorite recliner up on the loft, I'd like to think, too that "spiritual closet" means, closing my heart to things that can interrupt me as I communicate with the Lord. A quiet time meant for Him is truly an amazing time to feel His presence, away from the bustles and cares of this world! God bless!

Oh, I loved this post!!! So true too, because I also thought a prayer closet was literally a closet you prayed in, later I learned that it wasn't. During my prayer time I find that remembering how Jesus spent time with the Father will help me because Jesus "often slipped away" time and time again and sometimes not doing the "routine" of it all but sometime during the busy day taking time to pray and listen is best. Anywho that was my two cents! haha love ya!! hope you have a blessed week!

With four children and my husband my prayer room is the only place where I know I will not be disturbed. The BATHROOM (lol). They know when Mom goes into the bathroom she is in there talking to God.

At first this did not work as they would knock and say, "mommy are you done"? I would laugh and say, "no" not yet." Of course they would come back (or if they even left from in front of the door in the first place (LOL) and say, "now Mommy"?

So I said to them, "Mommy talks to God in the bathroom so if I am in there for a long time, I am talking with God okay"? My youngest son said, "tell Him hi for me okay?" Kids are so cute aren't they. Since saying this there have not been any interruptions.

I love talking with God. It not only brings peace and joy to my soul, it strengthens and uplifts me for whatever I may face that day. Talking with our Father is powerful. I am so glad I can come to Him anytime of the day or not and just talk to Him.

I love you my friend! Keep P.U.S.H. alive!
