God's Promises: Saturday

I'm a bit behind here. Busy weekend. Whew! But it's all been good. Planting and watering that seed. ;) Tonight I attended a Ladies night out at our church. Pastor Connie, our Pastors wife spoke on Titus 2. It was sooooo good. I'll blog about all that in a separate post though. Any way, will try to get this weekends promises caught up at least.

Charity; Hospitality; Brotherly Love; Poverty; Self Denial; Humility; Work; Help in Troubles; Righteousness; and Repentance.

Charity: Luke 14: 13-14: "And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
This is such a beautiful verse. We shouldn't expect to be repaid. The Lord has us covered. What more could one ask for. A heart to give is a beautiful thing!

Hospitality: James 2:15-16: "If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,' but you don't give them what the body needs, what good is it?"

How can a person turn someone away like that anyhow? One way to think about it is we all could be in that position some day. We never know for sure what is going to happen. The Lord is the only one that does. Would you want people to just walk by you and say, sorry, but I'm not going to help you?

Brotherly Love: Romans 12:9-10: "Love must be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. 10 Show family affection to one another with brotherly love. Outdo one another in showing honor."

Okay, I know this has nothing to do with the meaning, but it hit me how one teeny little word misspelled can change the whole meaning of a subject. When typing the verse I had mistakenly typed "Outdo one another is showing honor." And I thought what??? Then I reread the Bible and realized what it said, "in showing." Big difference. I believe I will be more careful when typing from now on. Had that not have been caught, it would have sent the wrong meaning. Whew! Thank you Jesus for pointing that out!

What a beautiful verse too. Yes, negative creates more negative and makes life...blah, miserable. But create a positive atmosphere it catches on and what a great life! Be kind, show love to one another, don't turn your noses up at others, don't judge a person by their outer looks, look for their inner beauty. Honor one another. We're all brother's and sister's after all. Would you treat your birth family that way? Why treat your God family that way?

Poverty: Psalm 107:41: "But He lifts the needy out of their suffering and makes their families [multiply] like flocks."

Isn't He faithful and wonderful? We never need to worry. He will always be there to find a way. God is good! When times get rough, remember, He gives us our trials and tribulations for a reason, to wake us up to something and draw us closer to Him. If you look back, I'll bet you will remember some not so good times and then think about what brought you out of it and you will realize how life changed, you prayed and he saved!

Self Denial: Romans 8:12-13: "Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. 13 Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality."

This is one I so needed. What a powerful verse.

Humility: Psalm 10:17: "Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully."

Yes Lord, we long to humble ourselves before you.

Work: Deuteronomy 28:12: "The Lord will open for you His abundant storehouse, the sky, to give your land rain in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but you will not borrow."

Being of the flesh, one would think this is terrible, but those in the way of the Lord knows this is good.

Help in Troubles: Psalm 146:8: "The Lord opens the eyes of] the blind. The Lord raises up those who are oppressed. The Lord loves the righteous."
Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! Amen!

Righteousness: Psalm 34:10: "Young lions lack food and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing."

Thank you Father, you are so good to us. We are not worthy of you. You are an awesome God!

Repentance: Mark 6:12: "So they went out and preached that people should repent."

Repenting of ones sins and being genuine about it is such a relief. It's a way of coming closer to Him. It's pertinent to forgive yourself and repent of your sins, mean it, as it is the only way to come closer to Him.
Okay, I know some of this was a bit wordy, but so much was racing through my mind. I have so much I want to share, but it will have to wait until tomorrow. I am so tired right now, I keep falling asleep. So I'll post Sundays and Monday's promises tomorrow. Good night or morning, "God bless."
